"Notice of Intension To Adopt a Negative Declaration By Southgate Recreation & Park DistrictNOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Southgate Recreation and Park District ("District") proposes to adopt a Negative Declaration for the Nicholas Park Soccer Field Addition, Softball Revitalization, and Lighting Conversion Project. You need JavaScript enabled to view it District proposes to repair a softball field and convert a second softball field into two multi-use fields at Nicholas Park. Repairs and conversion of the softball fields include removing the existing turf and replacing it with a drought tolerant fescue seed mix, addition and/or removal of infield clay, mending or replacing backstops, benches, and/or bleachers, removal of the two existing outfield fences, regrading of the fields, redesigning the site drainage, relocating the existing sports lights and converting to light emitting diode fixtures, adding concrete mow strips, and converting areas of the park to drought tolerant landscaping.The District, as the lead agency for this project, conducted an Initial Study to determine if this project may have a significant effect on the environment. The results of the Initial Study indicate that this project will not cause a significant effect on the environment; therefore, the District proposes to adopt a Negative Declaration.Comments on this proposed Negative Declaration should be sent to the District address or email listed above. Comments must be received no later than twenty-one (21) days after the date of this Notice of Intention which is dated September 26, 2016, or no later than October 17, 2016, at 9:00 AM.
